hey!

guess what? i took half-day leave today because there was NOTHING for me to do! i spent the whole morning cooped up in the library, reading newspapers and books. basically, getting paid for doing nothing. not that i mind, really. but i felt quite bad for slacking outrightly (haha RIGHT) so i decided to go home! my paycheck this month is gonna be disappointing. taking more half-day leaves this week to go for the interviews. plus i missed two days of work last week! on the bright side i have extra income from tuition. so it's not too bad :p

oh yeah, i just received a msg from alicia that i have a bnj interview on 25th! hope it could take place after work. if not i've to take yet another half-day leave. saddd. so anyway, hope i'll get to join ali! and hope edmund gets in too. haha. thing is i don't know when i can leave KW..if by the time i join bnj edmund's gotta enlist then it's quite dumb. lol.

i think i should make it a habit to exercise every weekend. i got a bit of a shock when i read off e weighing scale ytd. i think i'm edging closer to the dreaded 50 range..not quite there, but approaching. be careful of what you wish for. these words of caution have been more apt! lol. i'm not exaggerating okay..my h&m jeans were still q loose-fitting when i tried it in hk..now it feels rather tight :/ goodness me.

this is a christian song by Corrinne May, i thought it's very meaningful even though i'm not a follower of Christ..

Beautiful Seed

I can fill the darkness with just one flash of light
Break the the silence with just one word
Warm the fire-started revolution
One that can save the world

On the steps of Washington sprinkled like confetti
Thousands of people sing "We shall overcome"
The preacher shouts: "Let freedom ring"
He gave his life for what he believed

Chorus
You can be a witness You can be a prophet
You can make the whole world believe
Break the strongest fortress Change the way the world thinks
You can build a bridge where foes can meet
Hope for the future
Shout it, don't whisper dreams are what make them to be
There is hope in every heartbeat
Tiny as it seems
You're a beautiful seed

She's a pastor's daughter
She's only 16
But her heart and her belly are breaking at the seams
Her boyfriend blames her
He want to pay for the doctor to wash it away

As she lays in the hospital
A Christmas choir is singing
About a child in a manger fragile and small "Unto us is born a Savior"
She looks at her baby and cries as she sings him a lullaby

(Chorus)

Every hope, every power lies in the heart of a seed that flowers
Intertwined all across the land
We're all seeds in the maker's hand

thinking that the nondescript red swelling next to my right nostril is a pimple, i happily squeezed it, hoping that it will heal soon. then, i decided to reduce the redness by putting on raw egg white mask. by night time, i realised that the stubborn swelling persisted, and apply cold pressure to the tender area. still preoccupied by the slightly painful and massive "pimple", i pressed on the surrounding area.

what stupid mistakes i've made!!! just came back from the family doc and got to know that the pimple is instead an abscess.

"An abscess is a tender, easily pressed mass generally surrounded by a colored area from pink to deep red. The middle of an abscess is full of pus and debris.

Painful and warm to touch, abscesses can show up any place on your body. The most common sites are in your armpits (axillae), areas around your anus and vagina (Bartholin gland abscess), the base of your spine (pilonidal abscess), around a tooth (dental abscess), and in your groin. Inflammation around a hair follicle can also lead to the formation of an abscess, which is called a boil (furuncle).

Unlike other infections, antibiotics alone will not cure an abscess. In general an abscess must open and drain in order for it to improve. Sometimes draining occurs on its own, but generally it must be opened by a doctor in a procedure called incision and drainage.

Abscess Causes

Abscesses are caused by obstruction of oil (sebaceous) glands or sweat glands, inflammation of hair follicles, or from minor breaks and punctures of the skin. Germs get under the skin or into these glands, which causes an inflammatory response as your body's defenses try to kill these germs.

The middle of the abscess liquefies and contains dead cells, bacteria, and other debris. This area begins to grow, creating tension under the skin and further inflammation of the surrounding tissues. Pressure and inflammation cause the pain.

Abscess Treatment Self-Care at Home

If the abscess is small (less than 1 cm or less than a half-inch across), applying warm compresses to the area for about 30 minutes 4 times daily can help.

Do not attempt to drain the abscess by pressing on it. This can push the infected material into the deeper tissues.
Do not stick a needle or other sharp instrument into the abscess center because you may injure an underlying blood vessel or cause the infection to spread. "

omg. when i read those words of precaution i nearly died. couldn't help but laugh at my silly but genuine mistakes. i did EXACTLY what i was not supposed to do. but what's done cannot be undone. just pray and hope that the infection stops spreading and i don't need to go back to the doc. or least i won't have any permanent scars left from e incision and drainage. the thought of it makes me shudder. the only consolation is that i have 2 days mc! zzz don't even wanna step out of my house now, unless absolutely necessary.

Batch 36 with our signature hand signs!

Batch 38

Cute kaylen!!

heya!

there's so many things i wanna update on. first thing first: CT finals! thank goodness it was a bright and cheery Saturday morning at the HTA and that the rain came at an appropriate time. (after the finals, that is)

quite a few ppl from various batches turned up for the big event. together with the current unit, we formed a powerful cheering squad and really screamed our lungs out. hahaha. amanda m said our cheers were really solid (: oh yeah, during the pitch, literally everyone was blatantly hinting to wenxian to pick up that ball of twine that laid just outside the pitch. it made me wonder, would one be able to pick up external signals while in a game/match/competition? just imagine the immense stress on you to do whatever you need to do to win. you'd probably be blinded by your own peripheral vision. which brings me to another point-persistence does not necessarily bring results. sometimes nynp cadets are persistent to the point that they become quite stubborn and inflexible. something to do with the teaching method perhaps. oh well. it's really up to the unit to prove their worth.

anyway, we've got 2nd! which isn't bad at all, honestly. tkss (or issit tkgs oops) really deserved their gold. Their flagstaff was upright from all angles, their basha looked both impressive and functional at the same time, and their gadgets looked pretty good too. I think our saving grace was the spectacular jerry-can-holding gadget!! it's so amazing! it can be used to pour water from a fully-filled jerry can! really proud of their creations (:

oh yeah, mr han's son, kaylen is so cute!! he looked like an all-american kid in his GAP apparel. haha. typical boy cuz he love gadgets. when i showed him my camera he immediately took interest and got "bribed" over. HAHAHA.

after the finals, i went to jac's house to play with her Jack Russell, Rusty! it's the smallest dog/puppy i've ever seen! i could put her (i think it's female) on my palm! it's about as long as the width of an A4 size paper. it has got bad breath! haha. poor jac and her family has gotta endure her yelpings thru the night. rusty likes ppl A LOT and needs a lot of attention and cuddling. i think i'm a little intimidated by dogs which are too friendly and hyperactive. LOL. the irony. Rusty kept coming over to me even though i kept repeating, "Don't come here!" I think it just likes to play with human beings. heh. with the collaborative effort of jac's daddy and mummy, jac and i, rusty had a refreshing bath! hehe. it fell asleep several times while jac was drying it. it must have felt way too comfortable.

gonna watch the hk drama serial at 12 later! i'll be damn groggy in the morning for sure. KILL ME PLEASE.
