ahhhhh.
term 2 has finally come to an end! but that would signal the beginning of hardcore mugging during the holidays. no, make that STUDY BREAK. it ain't any other holidays! it's more like a month-long preparation for block test 2 and prelims. term 3 is gonna be mind-numbing. WE WILL SURVIVE!!! ultimately...haha.
Anyway, just giving my two cents' worth on some of the comments people make on redsports.sg. to say that HC bballers displayed no sportsmanship by thrashing IJ in the National A div basketball finals is rather preposterous. isn't sportsmanship about behaving in a fair and generous way during a game? Generous doesn’t mean you give points away to your opponents, because that would be utter disrespect for the game itself. To have sportsmanship is to play in a firm and dignified manner; not using unscrupulous means to attain victory. In that sense, how is it that winning by a big margin is equivalent to poor sportsmanship?
Two incidents that occurred on Wed during the netball finals at TPY sports hall got me on my nerves. Pretty badly. Zhi, kai and I were walking up the stairs of the stadium when some guy from some JC actually turned to face us and said “poseurs.” I thought I was hearing things and didn’t bother to give him a second look. But it turned out that zhi heard him too! I was fuming mad after that. Lol. It’s not because he labeled us as poseurs. It’s because he made an unjust judgment about us in just a few seconds! Hello, you just saw us for about 5 seconds and you think you know us? Erps. Yeah, it’s probably because of the red team bag that all of us were carrying that day. I admit it’s quite attention-seeking and loud la. But still…how can we be poseurs?! I think all poseurs will die of shame, knowing that we are labeled as one of them. Lol.
Another incident was that some adult was dissing HC for not applauding when the guest of honour was about to make a speech. He was sitting right below us, so I could hear his comments quite clearly. We were like, HUH?! What’s the need for that comment? I retaliated, but I felt that I shouldn’t have. There isn’t a need to fight back. I should have just ignored whatever he had to say. Whatever. It’s off my chest now, I feel so much better (:
